Located at 1875 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport CT, the Zoo is home to more than 300 animals in North and South American outdoor habitats. Species include Amur leopards, giant anteaters, Brazilian ocelots, and golden lion tamarins. The Zoo also houses a New England petting farmyard, a walk-through aviary, and a Victorian greenhouse.
You can purchase tickets at the Zoo’s front gate or online. Adults are $15, children are $12 and seniors are $17. Active military members and veterans receive free admission; AARP members get 15% off general admission for up to 6 people.
During the evening, visitors can hear from animal ambassadors in the Learning Circle amphitheater about their conservation efforts and how they’re saving animals from extinction around the globe. The zoo’s evening lecture series is a $10 suggested donation and refreshments are served. The zoo hosts a variety of events throughout the year including specials at Christmas and Halloween, toddler times during the week, and more.
Discounts & Coupons
The Zoo offers discounts and coupons that help guests save money. These coupons may be in the form of digital or printable vouchers that can be used on online purchases. Discounts are also available for groups, students, and senior citizens. The Zoo provides a list of current discounts on its website. The list is updated regularly.
Visitors to the Zoo can purchase tickets in advance for its annual Glow Wild Lantern Festival. This spectacular evening festival is designed for everyone to enjoy, whether a family outing, romantic date, or coworker get-together. Luminous passageways will stretch across the Zoo’s 30 acres and displays of flora and fauna will illuminate the night sky, creating a magical experience for all ages.
The New Fairfield Free Public Library has a museum pass program that gives library card holders free admission to the Zoo and the Discovery Museum. Museum passes can be reserved in advance and are available at the adult library’s circulation desk. Check it out here.

The Zoo offers many special events and festivals throughout the year, which allow guests to experience the Zoo in new ways and ignite a connection with wildlife and conservation. These educational opportunities are for visitors of all ages and encourage lifelong learning.
Glow Wild Lantern Festival
Walk through a wonderland of illuminated larger-than-life lanterns inspired by the Zoo’s animal habitats. This event is held every Thursday – Sunday evening September 15-November 27.
Teddy Bear Clinic
Bring your favorite teddy bear to the Zoo for a free health checkup, sponsored by Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. This “beary” fun day also features hands-on activities and stories to help kids learn about bears and their habitats.
Restaurants & Shops
Guests will find restaurants and shops in the vicinity of Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo. They range from New England-style eats to a waterfront brewery and Biergarten. There’s also a Victorian greenhouse and an indoor carousel to enjoy.
Besides animals, the zoo offers several other activities that visitors can participate in. These include scavenger hunts and family programs like Zoo Tots. They can also attend the zoo’s annual Teddy Bear Fest, Breakfast with Frosty and Friends (dates to be determined for 2017), and the popular Brew at the Zoo.
In addition to animal exhibits, the zoo also has bug and reptile houses, a walk-through aviary, and a rainforest. It’s home to numerous endangered animals including Siberian tigers, Amur leopards, Brazilian ocelots, and golden lion tamarins. It also takes part in several captive breeding and Species Survival Plan programs. It takes more than 90 volunteers to keep the zoo clean and running smoothly each year.
